Abstract
Starting from a brief contextualization of multilateralism and regionalism as integration arrangements within the scope of international trade law, this article presents a holistic analysis of the EU-Mercosur Agreement from the perspective of its inefficiencies, such as: (i) the difficulties related to the inclusion of local communities of the discussions within the purview of
the agreement; (ii) the asymmetries between Mercosur and the EU, whether economic or regarding civil society participation; (iii) questions concerning transparency and data collection in sectors with high environmental impacts; and (iv) enforcement problems of the chapter of trade and sustainable development dispositions.
