Abstract
The competition law aims for the social welfare, thus being important to determine if such goal is achieved. The purpose of this article is to try to evaluate the results of competition law from a legal (and not an economic) point of view. This legal evaluation will be carried by comparison between Brazilian and Portuguese competition law. For such, this text examines the similarities and differences between the contents of competition law in Brazil and Portugal (item 2) and subsequently analyzes the existing admi nistrative structure in each one of the Countries in charge of the enforcement of competition law (item 3). This paper concludes that the results do not show an important difference between the two countries and in both the degree of effectiveness of competition law seems to be high.
