Merger control analysis in digital markets in the U.S. (2015-2020)

Abstract
In recent years, the rise of large digital platforms has sparked discussions in different jurisdictions about the role of competition policy in digital markets. Such reflections, despite being originated around large technology companies, are not limited to them, encompassing a series of segments gradually transformed by the digitization of the economy. This paper seeks, considering the experience of US case law in merger control and the literature on competition in digital markets, to explore the reflections of these discussions on the scrutiny of the country's competition authorities in cases involving digital markets between 2015 and 2020.
